Hi i have a problem here. I have tried to play a couple of games on my new graphics cars which is r9 380. But seems there is a problem with assassin's creed unity. Game runs smooth until certain points game freezes and then minimize itself to desktop. Tries to maximize it again no chance in task manager it shows as not responding. Sometimes the whole computer come to a red blank screen with weird sound and have to restart it. I want to know what's going on. Is it related to my PSU? I have got an XFX 550, and my GPU requires 6 & 6 power connectors and already got them. Tried another driver no chance. Is it relayed to the game itself ? Is there any chance I can determine the source of the problem??

Could be a few things. I would rule out the easiest issues first, starting with cooling. Have you checked your CPU/GPU temps while running the game? Maybe the reason why your game crashes is because of the heat generated in intensive scenes during gameplay?

Another issue could be the load on your CPU. Have you checked CPU utilization during gamplay? You might have too many things running concurrently. Lastly, just to cover all the bases, double check your connections from your PSU-GPU.

One question though. Does this issue only occur while playing AC?

Keep me posted.

Yes the issue happens while playing AC unity, like it just minimize to desktop. Sometimes it gives red screen and that's it I have to restart the computer. Sometime the Radeon settings crash too. Played other games no problem. Checked psu to gpu connection and its fine. Checked Cpu no overheat no bottleneck. I also don't overclock anything. So what shall I do?

Hmmm, since there's no bottleneck/cooling issue and a different driver was installed, might there just be an issue with the game itself? Truthfully, if you were able to run another game of similar (or even greater) intensity error-free then hardware may not be the issue. Maybe someone else has figured out something that I have overlooked. Looks like it's time to play the waiting game :)

If anything comes up, let me know

I have ran some games but not that demanding when it comes to power. But I am going to test some, is there any software that can test my GPU properly? You know its hard to depend on a game to tell how your graphics card is actually performing because it is different form one game to another taking so many things to consider from game developer, engine, bottleneck handling, error handling, so is there any good benchmarking software that can put my card into its maximum performance and check heat, power, and performance. You know what its hard to change my PSU now for financial issue but don't tell me that my GPU is the problem. I am just going to test some games now and see where thing will go so far. I will keep you posted mate

You should use GPU benchmark/stress-test software like 3DMark, Heaven, or Furmark. Try it out and see if the issue occurs or if any metrics are too high (heat, etc)

As usual, keep me posted.

Well I have made a complete 3D mark 11 test, including stress combined test, apparently the test went through on maximum settings (despite the fact that it was on low fps) but it went through successfully, however the second time I ran the test I think there was a problem with CPU bottle-necking or something, tried to monitor my graphics card temperature during the stress test, apparently it was moving up to 50, to the middle fifties. Fan RPM was dynamically good and running well, so I don't think there is a problem with my PSU, as far as the GPU doesn't crash on stress test, to be honest AC unit runs well on it except for this unhanded issue, I will run the tests again hopeful everything be fine.

If the issue doesn't persist anywhere else except when playing AC unity, odds are that it's an issue with the game itself.

Just for the heck of it, try playing AC with low graphics, if the issue appears again, just blame the game and move on :)

EDIT: if the CPU is indeed bottlenecking, then that's your issue. Regardless, don't let this problem bother you.

Just tried a couple of games right now, nothing wrong so far, even tried to play AC Syndicate for a while, and then I got back to AC Unity, and guess what same problem persist specially when I try to reach a sync point on top of a tower or something, game freezes for like 5 seconds, then minimizes itself to task bar with no point of return.

I tried to work on lowest graphics ever and game was like 100 FPS or above, still tried to go to same place sync point game giving me same crash, I don't know what's going on really, however game works fine for my friend even got a lower system than mine

It's not really about the performance, GPU load or heat or even the CPU because game runs smooth until something really bad happens, however when the game do this issue I can still hear the game running in the background with everything

here is how it looks when the game is running, I think GPU temp is not that bad, CPU is not bottlenecking by the way, I was just trying to record a video for you to check the issue by yourself, however problem didn't happen this time ! It's so confusing, it's silly to the point that I don't want to play the game anymore I just want to fix it and that's it.

It seems like ACU is giving me too much pain I tried a lot no chance. Game works fine for my friend but crashes with me on certain points in Paris specially on sync points. It is not a performance issue since game jumped up to 122 FPS roughly on low quality 1080 resolution. However still crashing at same points.

I am not blaming my machine, actually exceeded my expectation with exceptional performance, I max out most games which is giving me 40-50 FPS (which is very good for a $250 Graphics card) stable no crashes no bugs, however only this game is giving me pain ! what's wrong Ubisoft?

Okay I will consider this conversation ended with no solution yet, however everything is working fine except this one hell of a game, no such optimization in te game at all, many crashes and FPS is not stable, I mean sometimes you can run at middle 30s, other places you run at 60 FPS !! you kidding me Ubisoft for real. besides other games are really great with amazing performance, I tested each and every benchmarking software, monitored my GPU temp, so far so good, so I decided to keep ACU in the shelf until I figure out what comes next.
