EDIT: even when I unplug my headphones it detects that headphones are plugged in...

Hang on a second, you have gone into the bios of the motherboard yes?

There is a setting, or there should be an option for the audio chip selection and mode in there.

There will be one for the rear audio ports of the motherboard, and for the two audio ports that are provided on the system case for audio playback and mic input in most cases.

You select the mode for each in the bios.

For example rear audio ports : HD audio, or Ac97,
For the front audio ports on the case HD audio, or Ac97.

If you are using the front two audio ports of the system case, Double check they are connected to the motherboard header provided, make sure it is fitted right, or the right way around.

As a slight warning I have had a few cases where the front...

Was that the drivers in the motherboard menu?

Go to the audio icon in the bottom right > Right click > Play back devices. What do you have as your device? You can try and disable it and it should default to something else... Also to check if anything has been disabled, right click the background of the playback tab and click show disabled devices

Right click on the windows speaker Icon next to the time on windows desktop.

Select playback devices.

Select either Realtek HD audio speakers.
Or your headphones if listed when connected to the system.

Right click and make sure it is set as default audio device.

Right click again on the same device you selected as default audio device.
Select configure speakers.

If your headphones are 2.1 sound, left and right speaks select that setup.
If your headphones are 5.1 surround sound select the 5.1 speaker setup.

Once done click on test to hear the audio playback on the default device selected.

As a slight warning I have had a few cases where the front Audio playback and Mic ports were wired wrong on the case it`s self.

Where it was label d as Mic, it was actually the playback audio port, and playback was the mic input instead.

So check they are not crossed over on the front case by swapping play back where you head pones connect to Mic.
Some Burke must of done it when the case was made lol.

hey! so I went into the bios chipset configuration, and it gave me the options of enabling disabling or auto on the hd audio and front ports, both were on auto so I se hd audio to enable and front panel to auto because that's the highest it would go. I havent checked to make sure its wired right but will do.
