I currently run i7 4790k at stock settings with corsair h100i gtx at idle temps 35-45C which are bit high in my opinions but i read that if you overclock it or optimize the voltage of the cpu the temps can get lower because the stock settings the voltage isnt as optimized.

Could anyone help me with this or have any suggestions on how to achieve this?

Also have noticed that my temps fluctuate really hard when i open a browser or any small program. It would jump from 37 to like 53 and then go down to around 40.. is this normal?

No, your CPU is working very hard on bootup. It has to get everything moving. Temps in bios are usually 5-10c higher for me than just idling on the desktop.

Can you tell me your absolute max temperature when at full load?

It's normal for temps to go to 65c roughly when doing cpu heavy tasks.

Your temps will drop like 30c instantly once CPU starts idling.

Mate, I have been getting the exact same thing happen with my Cooler Master Seidon 120v v2

It's a cheap water cooler, but for me it's really efficient. Has a slight irritating whining noise from the pump though. (To be expected for the price) £39.99

My temps do exactly what yours do and Jump 10-20c whenever I start to put load on the CPU. I am fairly sure this is a normal thing, because if you do something like run a stress tests your temps will go from say 30c to 55-60c pretty fast but then they will fluctuate between 50-60c (Or higher depending on overclock) which is about the right temps it should be hitting with effective water cooling.

I am no master of water coolers though I have only had experience with this one.

P.S if you know how to apply a max voltage to an overclock maybe you could help me?

I have a voltage of 1.315 on my 6700k @ 4.5Ghz (this is manually set)

I am wanting to apply a max voltage of around 1.320 so that it won't exceed that at full load but I also want it to lower the voltage when idle... is this possible?

I am just not comfortable leaving it at a static voltage...

Ive never overclocked before and have no knowledge on how to, im struggling with my pc right now as the idle temps are through the roof, i dont know what to do!?

Whenever i re-apply thermal paste, first boot up the temps are around 35c idle then 2nd boot up 50c idle !?!?!?!?

Is there something wrong with my cpu? I tried Artic Silver 5.. same temps.. NT H1.. same temps..
