[Posting for a friend]

Title says it all.

My friend has a previous gen (1st gen) i5 760 and is planning to upgrade his GPU to a GTX 750ti.

He wishes to play only the following games @ high setting (1080p) and good fps:

1. CSGO
2. Dota 2
3. Overwatch

Other games (though I doubt he will ever play any other game :p) can be played with a compromise in settings and resolution.

Will the i5 760 be enough to serve his need?

Thanks in advance :)

Solution
No not in any significant way. It shouldn't bottleneck at all in those games. I dont play any of those games so im not sure on the exact settings but he should get at least 60fps in all those games depending on settings, if I had to guess high sounds about right for DOTA 2 and CSGO not sure about overwatch however maybe a bit lower.

The 760 should be fine, but I wonder how well the 750TI will handle those games. It's a low end card and not designed to run modern games fast. According to this review which used a faster CPU I'm sure, the 750TI is right at the 60FPS line.

He should be fine to try it, but some games might need some adjustments down from maxed out to run.

I watched a lot of videos and along with your replies I have come to the conclusion that the i5 760 and GTX 750 ti should both be enough for my friend's need.

Thank you guys :)

Now I cannot decide which answer to select as the best answer cause both the replies have been really helpful, but I guess I'll give it to dunlop0078 since he replied first, thanks :)
