Hi, I recently had a overheat problem with my old laptop Asus K42F where the CPU temperature goes over 80°C then shuts down while playing games so I decided to take it apart and clean the inside. Since I haven't clean it for years you would expect the air vent for the fan is clogged by dust so I clean it, wipe the CPU and reapply thermal paste reassemble and temperature is back to normal when playing games.

The problem was the touchpad ain't working so I decided to take everything apart again and can't seem to find the problem. I then decided to update the bios, enable pointing device in bios and touch pad finally worked. Only problem now is my laptop keeps shutting down even though the CPU temperature ain't that high. It goes over 60°C when playing games and CPU fan is silent compared to how loud the fan was when going over 80°C. But still it shut its self down after 10mins of playing. I keep track of the temperature while playing. Use 2 apps to check temperature. No use checking the bios settings since all I can change in the bios is the time, date, SATA config, fancy startup, HDD password, boot settings. No option for CPU. Anyone got a clue on what is wrong with my laptop?

all connections on the mobo are properly locked since the only once that are needed to be locked are the keyboard and palm rest ribbons. My laptop ain't showing any strange symptoms as well. As a matter of fact it is running faster now since I cleaned it. The shut down issue just bothers me specially when gaming or working in max.

EDIT: I run a stress test on the CPU and it went up tk 75c without my laptop going off. I run a stress test on the GPU and it turned off 5 seconds later and GPU don't have a cooler.

UPDATE: Problem solved. I took everything apart again and clean...

Woops, pressed the wrong link. It doesn't give any warning. It just shut its self down instantly just like overheating. It's not overheating since I constantly put my hand in the vent to measure the temperature and it ain't that hot. I also got a cooler running below it plus my room is cold enough.
