I see a lot of threads on this subject but I need a new one since my PC is BC.

I just bought a Asus Strix Gtx 970 witch requires 225w and I am wondering is my crappy Cooler Master Elete 500w gonna handle it?

This GPU needs 1 8pin and l have just 1 6pin. I also have 2x6 pin to 8pin adapter, so can I use 6pin + (2x4pin to 6pin adapter) to get to 2x6 pin to 8 pin adapter enough juice? (you gotta hate me for this shenanigans)

My Frankenstein PC:

Intel i5-760 cpu
PCS-P55H-CM mobo
2x2gb + 2x4gb 1333 ram
Cooler master elite power 500w psu
Asus gtx 470 gpu(it takes 2x6 pin so I have made 2x4pin adapter for second 5"6 pin)

I am planing to upgrade both the mobo and cpu in the future, so this is just temporary.

Knowing that is bad quality and not to be trusted. If I go for it anyway, should I use 2x4pin to 8pin adapter or 2x6pin to 8 pin adapter(having that one of the 6pin is already adapted from two 4 pins) ? What makes more sense technically?
