Hi,
Having trouble getting stable settings on gigabyte board z97x-ud3h with an intel i7 4790K and Corsair 2400mhz ram. Cannot get the ram to be stable at anything over 1600 and cannot overclock cpu at all when the memory is overclocked. If the memory is stock i can get the cpu to 4.7 stable. Have tried system agent voltage and ram voltage with no luck. THanks

Solution
full build?

can you give an exact part number on the RAM?

best to overclock cpu then ram. but at stock freq on cpu your ram should be able to run a lot faster(are you using xmp profiles or manually setting the speed when at default cpu freq)

update: your cpu default max ram speed is 1600 at 1.5 volts so even though your motherboard supports faster doesn't mean the memory controller in the cpu is going to support any faster you still should be able to get some overclock out of it but I think 2400mhz is way outside of its limit of your cpu, mabe 17-1800 MHz mabe.

I can get the ram to 2400 if the cpu is totally stock with a small bump in system agent voltage.
Full build is...
gigabyte z97x-ud3h rev F9 bios
Intel i7 4790k
2 x 8 gig Corsair Vengance Pro 2400mhz CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R
MSI GTX 970 gaming edition
1200 watt Ultra Power supply
240 gig ssd drive
2 1 tb drives in raid 0 and 1 2tb drive
27 in lg wide screen
