I'm going to be going from a 270x to a 1070 soon and would like to know what special things to do.I know you have to do stuff with the drivers but what are the exact steps I need to take when changing from an AMD to Nvidia GPU

Solution
This works 99.5% of the time.

1. Eliminate Windows Update's ability to install Hardware drivers

http://windowsinstructed.com/disable-automatic-device-driver-download-in-windows-10/

2.a Uninstall all things AMD GFX related from Control Panel / Programs

3. Shut down and remove the card

4. Install the new card

5. Boot to Windows and install drivers from here:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

6. Would also recommend installing GFE

2.b Reboot and use a registry cleaner to check for leftover registry entries (i.e. ccleaner). There are 15 boxes on the left panel... select...

All I'd do is download DDU (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html), boot into safe mode and uninstall all AMD drivers, utilities and folders, power down, bang your new 1070 in (don't literally bang it) and then watch some midget pr0n in 12k surround.

Uncheck all boxes in right panel and then examine the columns in the right panel for any mention of AMD, Catalyst etc and check boxes associated with those items. Select Fix selected issues.... rinse and repeat with remaining boxes / categories in let panel till finished.

I have tried uninstall utilities but when running registry scans after, I still find the occasional left over entry ... I imagine it is difficult for these utilities to "keep up" with the frequency of driver updates.
