I'm aiming to get the "Sapphire RX 480 8G D5" in a week but as I seen online there's loads of people who reported RX480 for killing a pcie slot or a motherboard and that's confusing me
Is it true that rx480 kills pcie slots or motherboards?

My PC specs are:
Asus b85-mg motherboard
i7 4790 (non k)
16Gb ddr3 memory
And a seasonic s12ii-620 watt psu

Yeah the Sapphire nitro cards are normally very good, thats what I would be going for if I was in the market for one. Personally im going to grab a 1060 (for 1440p), but thats just because I prefer the software and features from nvidia, they trade blows in different games so its personal preference.

No, it is not true. The rx 480 DOES NOT damage motherboards. The card had an issue by sucking too much power from the PCI-E slot at the launch. This issue was fixed a couple of days after the release and was notable on cheap or crappy motherboard only.

Although it does not damage your motherboard, you should NOT buy the reference design variant. Wait a couple more days for the Sapphire Nitro+, which has far better cooling solution and factory overclocked.

Just want to add that the Sapphire Nitro RX 480's are going to be out next week, I can't remember the specific release date though but they announced it on Twitter.

~£240 for the Nitro+ 8GB, ~£250 for the Nitro+ OC 8GB. Or there's the GTX 1060 that outperforms the reference RX 480's in serial API's.
