I've been doing research on my new pc for about a year now and just last tuesday I bought all the parts, I got a 6800k and a h115i and can't seem to find a decent video on overclocking, can anyone suggest a guide? I want to get my 6800k to 4.2 ghz, is this possible and how do I do it? (I have a MSI gaming pro mobo)
Heres my partlist: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/pM327h
Thanks!

HI! I cna help you with this. I have same cpu and i achived 4.3@ghz with 6800k and stable and on nice cooled temp. Right first step, yuo should run into bios and go to overclocker page. 1. cpu ratio is fixed type.
2. fixed ratio try 4.2
3. set voltage to manual.
4. cpu core voltage fixed 1.35v if it's not enough runs on stable with test set to 1.375 or 1.38 dont really go above 1.4, that chip cna go wild with temp if you dont have custom watercooled system for it. right cpu blc is set to 100
5. dont use the xmp profile on memory but if you can try for my case isnt boot up.
6. set dram speed on memory what is right for it u can check on xmp profile what is possible to setting up for them.
6. save everything into oc's profile and save and reboot the system.

Have good fun with it, dont forget the cpu fna or radiator fans speed adjust little bit higher but not to be noisey.

You're a bit late (a bit over a year lmfao), but I'm still incredibly grateful for the help! I already got an overclock a while ago, but no matter how much I tried to get it to a manual voltage I always ended up setting it to auto, how do I determine a fixed voltage and will it increase/decrease the chips lifespan? I struggle to keep this chip under 85 at full load on 4.2Ghz, although it hardly ever goes into full load is this a bit high? Thanks again!
