Hey everyone!

I have had enough of this 2011 Macbook pro 12", and i have decided to look for a decent budget laptop.

So far, the Asus E403SA Seems to be the best candidate (I'm open to any suggestions, Im in Ontario, CA incase you are wondering)

Since the E403SA comes with 4gb of ram, i was wondering if i could utilize the 2x4 DDR3 1333Mhz from my macbook to upgrade it.

Is the RAM on the E403SA Soldered onto it? are there enough DIMM Slots for the upgrade? Thanks in advance!

Solution
It only has one slot, and will only accept DDR3 1600MHz. Since there's only one slot, only one DIMM can be installed at a time.

The memory controllers in laptops are much more picky than those in desktops... It won't downclock to a lower memory speed, it'll just fail to initialize. You need to make sure that you get 1600MHz for that model.

I wouldn't say you're an idiot. The logic behind the inner functions of computers can be very complex. I've been custom building for five years and I probably understand about 40% of everything that goes on inside a computer.

Hmm, I see. What about the F555LA, would that accept a ram upgrade?

Thanks.

Cant it just run the existing DIMM at a lower speed?

Hmm, Would it accept another 8GB DIMM (DDr3 1600mhz)? So it could be 12GB in total? Or would i have to take out the existing 4GB DIMM?

Sorry xD Im a bit of an idiot
