I just built my computer with an i5 6600k processor and in the bios the temp of it consistently raises to 75 degrees Celsius then i turn it off to prevent damage it does this within 5 minutes of booting and the cooler I have is a corsair h100i v2 and It also says cpu fan error everything is hooked up is it possible I got a bad radiator or do I need to run a temperature reading once the Os is installed i believe that the cooler is working but I don't know how to tell if it is I felt the hoses and one is warmer closer to the cpu the build components are
Asus maximus ranger viii motherboard
Gigabyte 980ti graphics card
Corsair h100i v2 water cooler
Corsair rm850x power supply
Corsair 3000mhz ddr4 ram
Samsung Sata drives
Corsair c70 case
Is there any way to fix this or do something different I already tried reseating the cooler and that didn't seem to work or would a reapplication of thermal compound be a possible fix....thanks

Solution
Try plugging a fan into the CPU Fan header and see if it spins. It could be one of the radiator fans or any 3 or 4 pin fan you have lying around. Make sure the fan spins. If it does, then something is wrong with the cooler or it's wiring.

Ensure that your cooling block is mounted snugly to the CPU. Finger tight is good. Don't wrench it down. When you re-seat without wiping clean and applying new thermal paste, it can put air bubbles in the paste, and cause it to not dissipate heat properly. Remove, clean, re-apply, and tighten snugly, and let us know what happens.

AS WrektGlitch has mentioned retention and TIM application can have an impact on cooling performance. Another thing you'll want to check is that you've connected the pump power connector. Normally the pumps in AiO's are pretty quiet, however you should be able to hear at least some whirring coming from the pump indicating that it's on and working. Also check the radiator fans to make sure they are spinning, though from your description, I think that it would take longer to overheat if it was just a fan issue.

Edit: I just had a look at your Corsair H100i V2 manual. This is very interesting, most AiO's I've seen have a separate power connector for the pump. It appears though that this AiO takes power from the CPU Fan header connector. I would have thought the pump would / could use more power than this connector can provide. Typically fan headers can supply up to about 1A of current which equates to a maximum of about 12W. You might want to check in the BIOS / UEFI in the monitoring section to see if there is an RPM reading for the CPU Fan. This would indicate that the pump was working.

That says to me that the pump isn't working. Make sure you have the connector from the pump going to the CPU Fan connector your your motherboard.

Definitely an option, at least to see if the pump will start working and showing an RPM value. However long term, he'll have to set the BIOS to Ignore the CPU Fan if that is the way he leaves it set up. The ultimate solution for it if it turns out the motherboard is faulty is replacing the motherboard.

If he tries a fan in the CPU Fan header, that will at least tell him whether the motherboard is at fault or the cooler.

I have tried the water pump connecter as well and that didn't do anything I did plug a fan in the cpu header and the fan did indeed spin so I believe now that it's the pump itself

Yeah, if the CPU Fan header can power a fan, then it's likely its the pump. The cable that is supposed to connect to the CPU Fan header, can it be removed at the pump end? Or is it hardwired to the pump? If it can be removed, have you tried to re-seat it or make sure it's connected correctly?
