Hello everyone, I was going to upgrade my graphics cards. I currently have 3 980s. I was wondering it it was possible to get two new ones and keep my third one and just dedicate it to processing. Is this possible or do all the cards have to be the same?

Solution
Not possible if you are upgrade to different model. To SLI your all the cards have to be the same

To SLI you have to have three of the same model card with the same amout of VRAM
Clock speeds does not matter nor does brand
So you can SLI a Asus with a Gigabyte despite they dont have the same clock speeds but they both have the be GTX 980 and have the same amount of VRAM

if you want a upgrade then change all of them to new model else don't change one or two cards !!

I took it too fast to understand. I already answered you about SLI Rules

To SLI you have to have three of the same model card with the same amout of VRAM
Clock speeds does not matter nor does brand
So you can SLI a Asus with a Gigabyte despite they dont have the same clock speeds but they both have the be GTX 980 and have the same amount of VRAM

Add this one
SLI limit is 4 way , you can't SLI 5 cards
