Is the built in ethernet port dead?

Recently, when I went out, I turned off my pc but didn't unplug it completely then while I was out, a brownout occurred and I think my modem short circuited the Ethernet port on my system unit.

(The system unit is plugged in a UPS so when the said brownout occurred, power remained in the system unit. The problem is that the modem isn't connected to the UPS so when the brownout occurred, it's power cycle might have affected my system unit's Ethernet port)

My current dilemma:

-There is no Ethernet connection on my PC (The modem and the cable still works though).
-There are no LAN drivers detected on my PC. Even the device manager isn't showing network adapters.

Things I tried to do:

-I tried to reinstall the LAN Driver for my motherboard but when I try to install it, it prompts this message, "The Realtek Controller was not found. If deep sleep is enabled, please plug the cable"

-I tried to install a Intel® Network Adapter Driver for Windows 8.1 (My OS), but it prompts "Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) adapters are present in this computer."

-I loaded the default settings, removed the RAM, battery and jumped the pins in the motherboard to reboot the bios.

My specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-DS2
CPU: Intel i3 4130
8 Gigabytes of Ram

My PC is now on life support accessing the web via smartphone. Tomorrow I think I'll borrow a LAN card from a friend to test it out. If worse comes to worst, I might buy a new motherboard (I hope not)

Thank you guys in advance for helping me out!

Hi

Assuming the bios has a software on off switch and it is on then i would expect the device manager to show an ethernet port with no driver

You have tried a Intel & Realtek driver
Which one does your motherboard have!
As a final test i would boot up off a live linux distribution to see if it detects a ethernet port
If it does windows has corrupt drivers

Examples:- Kaspersky rescue cd, parted magic, and several others
If not you have a choice of wireless or ethernet adapters

A usb to ethernet or wireless adapter may be quicker to fit than a pci or pci-e card
But an internal card is probably better for reliability and speed
