Hello,

I have MSI X99A Raider motherboard already installed with 2x8GB DDR4 2400 C16.
I wanted to add 2x16GB DDR4 2400 C14 (Corsair Vengeance LPX).
Will these 8GB and 16GB RAM modules co-exist and work together?
If so, should I install the 16GB RAM module in the first two slots and move the 8GB to lower slots?

Thanks in Advance.

Solution
Thanks all for the answers and help!

I could make them run in Quad Channel mode. All RAM sticks are 2400MHz while the 8GB sticks are c16 and 16GB sticks are c14.

I did the following to make it work in Quad Channel mode:
* Install both 8GB RAM sticks (c16) in Slot 1 & 3
* Install both 16GB RAM sticks (c14) in Slot 5 & 7
* RAM works in 2133MHz clock (CPU Intel i7 5960x works at this clock) and c16 latency.

Any other combination wouldn't work. Any change in the installation of RAM Stick would through "Page Fault error" and Windows 10 would not load.
I would assume that the MOBO needs to have the slowest/smallest RAM sticks in the initial slots.
Its been running like this for last 3 days.

You can try - there are no guarantees, when trying to mix sets of DRAM. If you do try, start at CPU and install 16-8-16-8 so the channels are balanced and all 48GB are in dual channel mode. That's how I run mine ;) Let us know what happens, may need voltage/timing adjustments to get them to play

Thanks for your response, helpstar!
Its probably the short term solution. Will have to move to all 16GB DDR4 Ram stick going forward.
