Hi guys!

Could you please take a loog at my build and tell me if you see something wrong? Can you recommend me some *silent* (I’m willing to pay extra for noise reduction) CPU cooler?

I want an upgradeable and VR-ready PC that will play everything at 1080 and play 4K media on my TV. My highest priority is silence. This baby is going to be living in my room.

CPU Intel i7 6700K $ 345
GPU Nvidia/EVGA GTX 1060 6 GB $ 250
MOBO Gigabyte Gaming 7 $ 200
Power EVGA, 750W 220-G2 XR 80 PLUS GOLD $ 110
2 x 8 GB RAM G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series $ 72
SSD M.2 Samsung 950 Pro 256 GB $ 175
HD Already have 3 x 4 GB $ 0

Space is a bit of a premium so I do not want a monster case, if I can avoid it. I’m not decided on the case. These are my options so far:

Corsair Obsidian 550D $155
Fractal Design Define XL R2 $140
Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 $130
Nanoxia Deep Silence 2 $250
NZXT Phantom 630 $185
NZXT Phantom 820 $200
Corsair Carbide 600Q or C, w. dampening $140

This is going to be my second build, so I’m kinda nervous. :) Thanks in advance!!

Approximate Purchase Date: This month
Budget Range: ~$1300
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Movies (4K), Work, VR?
Are you buying a monitor: No
Parts to Upgrade: New PC
Do you need to buy OS: Yes, Win 10 Home
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Don’t really care about who sells it. Would even consider ebay.
Location: Michigan, USA
Parts Preferences: Intel & Nvidia FTW!
Overclocking: Maybe, but I’m more concerned about noise than a few more fps.
SLI or Crossfire: No
Your Monitor Resolution: Currently 4K TV and 1920x1200, plan to get another 1920x1200. So I would like triple monitor support for work.
Additional Comments: I NEED a quiet PC. I game on my 1920x1200.
Why Are You Upgrading: Sick of troubleshooting my 3 year-old noisy Alienware.

The R5 is a great case for a miditower maybe the best even in its size.
Also the Phanteks P400s is a very nice case that also is quite good looking, but has no 5'25s for an optical drive. But if you don't need any optical drives this is definitely worth of checking out and has an excellent price/performance ratio

Generally you go wrong with a R5 as it is the best compromise of all worlds: 140mm fans, good airflow, 5.25 drive bays, more than enough space but not too big if space is an issue, silent, good quality.
Only downside is that it comes without dust filters for the top exhaust, if you're going to use the top exhausts anyway.
The naxonias are very silent but don't have the best Airflow.
The Fractal Design XL is allegedly poorly manufactured. Some customers complained about deformations and weird sounds.
The phantoms are pretty solid.

Why not the F51 suppressor?
I mean yes, it's a copy and yes, I know, it's Thermaltake. But besides that it's a great case especially for value plus it supports 200mm fans...

Any specific reason you want the GA G-7 mobo?

Not really. I just looked among Gigabyte mobos and picked the cheapest that had some of the features I was looking for (3 SATA Express, 2 M.2, 2 USB 3.1, 5 USB 3.0, DDR4 2133 before overclocking).

You're right, thanks! I'll save a few bucks by getting a Gaming 5 instead (I use an external Tascam sound interface).

I'm still undecided about the case and cooling but your help has helped a lot.
