Why is my CPU temp so hot?

I have an i5-4670K running at 3.4GHz and according to speccy it's 53 degrees at idle. I have noticed in recent weeks that whenever my PC is on, my room turns into a sauna, but I haven't really thought much into it. It's only now that I bother to check, that I see both my CPU and GPU run 50-55 at idle.

My PC:
Case - HAF X
CPU - i5 4670K @ 3.4
CPU cooler - CM 212 Evo (yea I know... but it used to run at 28ish)
GPU - EVGA 780 Ti SC ACX
RAM - 32GB 1866MHz
Mobo - Gigabyte Z87X-D3H

How can I diagnose why it runs so hot and how can i improve this? Thanks.

okay bro I have chrome open it's using 3-5% idk what's wrong.... honestly it could be that you have a bunch of background programs....

open task manager and see what's taking so much cpu usage

Okay maybe I should get new paste as I think I bought the CPU 3 years ago. I'll give everything it a clean next weekend, see if I get any improvements.
