Dynamic Super Resolution Lowers CPU Usage?

My CPU bottlenecks my GPU at 1080p and I cannot upgrade my monitor for a higher resolution. I've heard that playing on a higher resolution puts the load more on the GPU than the CPU. I wanted to know if I enable DSR, will it lower my CPU usage?

CPU: i5-2320
GPU: GTX 1070 Strix

Kinda, but the cpu still has to feed the frames. If the cpu can't sort the next frame, it'll still cause issues.

Depends on game. Crysis 3 hammers my cpu regardless of resolution for example. You could frame cap or increase res and see. Try it out!
