Hey guys, I have a few questions regarding the temperatures of my MSI Gtx 1070 Gaming X. The card seems to be running pretty hot (80C or more) after only 10mins or so of running under load. I'm pretty sure this is attributed to the room in which the computer is running, which in the heat of the day is around 90 degrees. Is this gpu temperature okay. I've tried messing with fan speeds in msi afterburner but can't really get the temps down. Are there any recommended fan curves for my specific room temperature that would help me get my gpu temps down?

Something to note is I have mild overlock (+140 core and +100 memory). If any more information is needed let me know and I'll try to provide it.

Thanks!

It's all about air movement ... 90F air 32.2 gives you a very substantial Delta T of 58 degrees C which is plenty for cooling ... you are exhausting most of the GPU heat into the case ... question is, do you have enough oomph to move it out ?

Take off your side panel and use a desk fan to blow air into the case.... if temps improve, then additional case cooling will help.

Okay thanks for the response. I'm going to try and get a much bigger/better fan to cool the room with (or should I say closet because the room is very small). Once I get the ambient temps down as much as possible, do you have a recommended fan settings? Or should I just run the fan on auto?

Idle temperatures are excellent even with the fans turning off in idle. During gaming, the card also runs much cooler than the reference design, which avoids clock throttling above 82°C.

You want to avoid 82C ... or this happens. Blue line = no throttling / Orange Line = throttling

Okay thanks for the responses. I've seen the card reach 81 degrees, but then I shut off the program I was running (valley benchmark) and let it cool down. It's possible it's reached higher temps while I was playing the witcher 3, during which I was not monitoring temps. I did have the witcher 3 freeze one time with a bunch of white squares on the screen. I've heard this could have resulted from temperatures or driver problems (which is defiently possible because I have had other possible driver related issues).

Okay, I'll definitely look into getting some more case fans. In the meantime though, Is it safe to game with my graphics card going into the high 70's plus?

I'm working on getting the ambient temperatures down as much as possible.
