I recently bought the h110i gtx extreme cooler and installed it on my i7 4790k.I runned some test i think that the temps are a little bit to high for a liquid cooler.
Idle:40C
Playing games:60-65C
The cpu is not OC
Is this normal for this cooler?
Edit:I did some stress test with prime95 and i get 100C this is not normal :( for a liquid cooler any help would be apreciated

Solution
Pretty sure your system is just fine at 40c. A computer being 10-15c higher than your rooms temp is normal. The two things that you could try are just reapplying your paste and making sure the backplate is on the correct way, or dust out your system and make sure it's clean. Even if your processor runs a little bit hotter than other people's processors it will do what? Take away a couple years off of the chip that's supposed to last 20-30 anyways?

Have you touched the pre applied thermal paste? Is it seated properly? When installing it if you kept shifting it around and reinstalling it you should re apply the thermal paste.

What is your ambient temperature? Because ambient temperature has a direct effect on your CPU's temperature.

You need to install corsair link software and set your pump speed to max. It runs at half speed default, around 1600 rpm. Max speed is 3000~ rpm and it doesn't make more noise but makes a great difference in temps.

Idle it doesnt matter, for me idle is around 31 but minimum fan speed is 50%, what it matters is in load and it is more then fine, maybe a fan doesnt make good contact on the plug adn sometimes it stops, who knows.

EDIT: Maybe an error applying the fan speed curve, sometimes it is good to give a reboot and try again.

BTW, mine is 78 in prime95 so that is the temperature you should have.
