I've Windows 8.1 which was installed in legacy BIOS mode though my computer supports UEFI.

Is there any way to switch from bios to uefi without clean install of Windows 8.1?

Solution
Contact the manufacturer website and look up the model and see if there is a update to switch it to UEFI. There usually HELP / FAQ / WIKI on it answering EXACTLY that question. The issue isn't 'tied' to Windows. BIOS / UEFI is hardware based (the physical thing your touching). But if the hard drive / other parts of the hardware need specific setup to 'run' BEFORE Windows even 'starts' then that will cause Windows to 'not work' and require a reinstall because it is talking another language as far as Windows is concerned.
