Go for the I7 4790k, faster out of the box clock speeds vs the 4770k. And with the right Z97 motherboard, the CPU can turbo to 4.4ghz on all cores, not just one. But do make sure to invest in a aftermarket cooler for better temperatures

Sounds like a good deal, but you should head over to his place and watch him play games using it to make sure it runs well.

Im not sure about graphic design and photo editing since i do neither, as for hardcore gaming, that can really depend on the game. And for 3-5 years, who knows. You got to remember the 4770k is a 3 year old CPU as its sits, will it last for 3-5 more, who knows. It really depends on games and such if the processor will still be relevant

Right but as it stands it is still one the best consumer level CPUs out there. When Haswell is obsolete Skylake will not be far behind.

But to me 4th gen i7 proc still beast for now...just not sure if only i get 4770k worth or just save more money and get 4790k...

If your friend offers you his i7 4770k for that cheap and it is properly working then definetly get it, yes the i7 4790k is a bit better due higher clockspeed, but if that i7 4770k is really that cheap then a new i7 4790k is not worth it.

The i7 4770k will last you 3-5 years or more no problem, i7 2600's are now 5 years old and still good for gaming, and will so for the next couple of years.

Try to get a z97 motherboard, those allow overclocking, so when you think that your i7 4770k start to slow down, just overclock it a bit.

I am running an i7 4790 with a gtx 1070, and my i7 has no problems powering the gtx 1070. :)

i think i'll get from my friends...and think u're rite..oh i forgot,he sell i7 4770k with mobo for 370$..the mobo is B85-G43 gaming..is this mobo ok if oc to 3.9/4.1 when gaming?

I thought you can only 'overclock' the BLCK which is means that if the i7 4770k runs at 3.5ghz you can 'unlock' it to run on 3.9ghz all the time, since that is the boost speed of the processor, but it also depends on the bios on that Mobo, and I believe that it also overclocks the ram automatically, in my opinion I would'nt do all those things.
And 4.1ghz is not possible on that mobo, you should get a z97 mobo for that, to overclock to 4ghz+

Doesn't your friend sell the i7 without mobo? And 370$, how much does a i7 4790k cost new in your country?

so just stick with stock speed is ok rite?is it z97 is the best mobo for the 4th gen proc?sorry for many question...becoz so many years with AMD...and this time need to learn lot with intel..In my country for only i7 4790k cost 373.54$ that is 1 month of my salary if converted to my country currency...if plus with good mobo like z97 cost 564$ which is 1 month half of my salary...

z97 is the chipset, is like saying: I got the 6700k and a 500 dollars motherboard ou I got the 6700k and a 50 dollars motherboard. The z97 chipset will allow overclock, but it can come in a good and expensive motherboard or a cheap and bad one. Go for the second option if you can't afford the first, or keep your friends mobo and don't overclock, you can buy a good mobo later. Please keep in mind that you will need to overlock: a medium quality mobo, a very good cooler and a z97 mobo (or z87 is fine too as long as I remember, for the 4770k)

Z87 or Z97 chipset motherboards allow overclocking, I dont know if you want to overclock the cpu, but then you should get a z87 or z97 motherboard.
But for now the stock speed is more than enough :) I have a i7 4790, which is around the same as an i7 4770k, and I run it with and gtx 1070 no issues. It will last you mutliple years :)
