How to tell if too much thermal paste?

I built my very first PC today and am very worried because im not sure if I put too much thermal paste on. Is there any way to tell if I put too much on from the outside? I have already installed my cpu fan on it as well.

There is no way to tell from the outside aside from bad temperatures, but this is a good amount.

it acts like toothpaste...and your putting in on like p&g sandwich. dont want it to oose out but you want the penutbuter to cover the top with a light layer.
