Hello so last night I was playing WoW as usual, until my screen turned blue for 3 secs and then my computer restarted. As it boot up the resolution scaled down to 800x600 locked, it wont let me change it. And also in device manager its says my GTX 780(Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). Not only that, but also my windows screen on the desktop, has blue lines showing that move around as I move my mouse. Is this a windows 10 problem? if so I cant revert back to windows 8 because windows 8 requires a resolution higher than 800x600. please help :(

SPECS:
16GB ram
i7-4770k
windows 10
GTX 780
Asus Maximus VI Hero

Things I have tried:
Clean Reboot
Uninstalled and Installed graphics Drivers
Try putting GPU in different PCI slot

Solution
No it`s is more of an indication that the GTX 780 card has developed at fault if you are getting an error code for hardware detection of it in windows device manager.

The likely cause, given you are saying you have blue lines on windows desktop that present them self while displayed or when you move the mouse tells you that the card it`s self is suffering from one of the two physical faults Jeromaine.

The card has got very hot during use.
Causing the Gpu chip of the graphics card and the solder connections on the underside of it to the circuit board of the graphics card.

Causing a bad circuit connection, or it can also be down to one of the memory chips of the graphics card having the exact same problem.

In such as case, the fix is...
lets see if this helps...in this order...

> download display driver uninstaller from guru3d...run it and uninstall all current drivers...
> power off the system and reset the cmos battery...
> clean the card properly for dust accumulation...
> power on the system and update the bios to the latest one, but before that, keep a copy of the older bios, in case the new one doesnt work...(optional)
> now go to the nvidia website and download the latest whql game ready drivers for the card and install them...
> along with that u should update ur... c++ redistributable, directx, and .net framework...

let us know wat happns...

I think you've probably reached that point where you would need to test the GPU in another system, you don't even need to run it under load as it isn't a crashing when you stress it. If you find the same thing happens there then you've got a dead GPU, it might still be in warranty so you may be able to RMA the card.

Causing a bad circuit connection, or it can also be down to one of the memory chips of the graphics card having the exact same problem.

In such as case, the fix is to heat the whole card to re flow the said solder connections on the underside of the gpu or a memory chip of the card to repair it.

At the same time the card should be checked for excessive dirt and dust build up of the cooling solution of the card also
cleaning it free of dust if the card has not been cleaned for a long time.

If you wish to know how to fix the problem look up re flowing a graphics card in a google search.
It will detail what you must do in order to fix the problem.

Though it is not always 100% guaranteed as a fix.
Because it depends on if excessive heat above normal when the card was running has not damaged the Gpu of the card.
About 80% of the time though it is down to a broken or weak solder joint of the gpu chip or a memory chip on the graphics card though.

Bellow is a tutorial on the symptoms with pictures, and the process to fix the card.

Wow to my surprise, it actually worked. Heated it up at 200 in the oven for 15 mins, let it cool for 15 and now it works and code 43 is gone. Back to 1920x1080, and no more blue squared pixels everywhere. I wonder how long this can last until it goes back to dead :(
