Is a Core Duo Motherboard compatible with a Core 2 Duo?

The T7500 is a core 2 duo, why would you "upgrade" to another? If you did what core 2 duo spefically? You cant use a desktop version if that's what your asking, it wont fit.

The T61 can run with a T7700 CPU, other CPUs may fit in the socket but may not be supported in the BIOS.
Best thing for that system is to make sure you have the max RAM it can take and swap the hard drive for an SSD. I think the T61 uses a SATA drive so should be easy to swap.
Or spend $150 or so on a newer T410 with a Core i5, will be almost the same cost as upgrading the T61 and you get a much faster laptop.
