I want to change my graphics card for a better one, will this GTX 1080 work with my MAXIMUS IV GENE-Z/GEN3? thank you

I have both the gtx1080 from evga and the maximus iv gene-z/ gen3. the combo did not work at first. I had to upgrade the bois to the Version 3603(Only for Win7 & Win8) to get it all working properly. after that, super solid system :)
