There are no AMD processors that have a significantly higher single thread capability than your current cpu.
Few games can use more than 2-3 threads.

Your upgrade should be to Intel.
If you have no budget limit, buy a I5-6600K, a Z170 motherboard and plan on a modest overclock.
That is as good as it gets for gaming today.
The fast core speeds will be particularly good for strategy games, sims, and mmo types.
