Is 4k really worth it over 1440p?

How much of a difference can there be between 1440p and 4k when 1080p already looks great and 1440p perfects that? Is the difference anything you'd notice in a blind test?

If you sit close enough to your monitor to see the pixels, then higher resolution will help.
If you can't see the pixels from where you sit, then higher resolution will make NO DIFFERENCE.

IMHO,
1080p is good for a 21" monitor,
1440p is good for a 27" monitor
4K for 32" or above

There is more to it than being able to "see" the pixels.

Take a cellphone, they have HD screens, and look super clear no matter how close you get.

Then look at something like an apple Retina display (2k) or a new skylake tablet with a 4k screen, and it is amazing how much you CAN'T see the pixels. You can't see the pixels in a photograph, but that doesn't mean a 1200dpi scan isn't any better than a 600dpi scan, because it is.
