Monitor for New Build

Solution

Sorry, I didn't see you respond :) basically since you're not going to be playing a lot of fps shooters I don't see response time, or 144hz monitor actually needed. I personally play on a 60hz 1ms benq, but at times I feel like I need it. It's not that very important unless you're doing MLG, or tournaments, where every second counts!
Based on the information you provided, I would recommend one of these https://www.amazon.com/Acer-R240HY-bidx-23-8-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B0148NNKTC/ref=sr_1_15?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1469525547&sr=1-15&keywords=gaming+monitor

It's cheaper than your budget so you could potentially get 2 of them, which I would recommend from my own experience.
Also this monitor has a very small Bessel, so dual monitor setups would look really nice.
Hope you enjoy my opinion on this matter.:)

Side note, I wouldn't get the gtx 950. Just hold off until you get enough money for a higher card like the 1060, since it's around 300$ at the moment. Also it provides the same performance as a 980 ti, in some cases a lot better. :)

Thanks! However, what is the benefit of having 2 monitors? Also, what is wrong with the GTX 950? Why would I benefit from a higher card, as they seem a lot more expensive! Could you recommend any?

2 monitors is a dream, literally you can get so much done if it be having multiple tabs of chrome open, or watching a youtube video while you play a game. It's so helpful in multitasking situations.
On the gpu , I would just try to get the highest single graphics card you can afford. Don't get me wrong you have a nice gpu, but the amount of performance you could get for let's say a extra 100's$ is unthinkable.
My recommendations: a gtx 1060 since it's the same price as a 970 right now. If you are on a really tight budget, just get the 950, but get the 4gb version at least do your self that favor. Since if you do get the 4gb instead of the 2gb, there will be less popins in open world games. :)
