Hey,

I have recently gotten a Dell Optiplex 790. http://www.cnet.com/products/dell-optiplex-790/specs/ (Uppgraded mine with extra ram (16 gig)

In order to be able to play games I see the need for a new graphic card.

I have found this LP card at a reasonable price: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GT-710-2GD3H-LP.html#hero-overview

My question is this:

The Optiplex 790 only has 240 watt power supply, while the graphic card has been listed to require a minimum of 300 watt (19 watt in use).

Will the Optiplex be able to handle this, or do you think it will be a problem?

Thanks in advance for any answer.

Thanks for the quick answer, apologetic_zombie.

The power supply is indeed not expensive at all.

Regarding the graphic card:
I am currently playing dota 2. It runs fine on the Optiplex expect I have to set the graphic settings to very low.

I would probably only play Dota 2 and possibly the newest World of Warcraft. Do you still think the GT-710 does not have the "juice" to make those games run OK? (I should probably have specified this in the original post).

forgot to add on, youll need to check if your pc uses the standard psu and connections because sometimes pre built systems use proprietary stuff. As for the 710, it doesnt seem like you will be able to run dota 2 higher than 720p ish without dipping lower than 30-40fps. So even a 750 would do much better

Thanks again. You have been very helpful.

I will be sure to check whether the PC runs the standard PSU and connections before buying anything.
