Hello. I just bought a second-hand (used) i5 3330 CPU, and im having some problems.
My computer randomly freezes and cant start up for a bit (probably untill its more coldy), and Speedfan says my CPU temp is jumping from 50c to 80c to 128c.
I have also tried HWU, that shows cores at 35-40c but CPUTIN at 90/100/110c.
It doesnt look like a sensor problem, specially because computer really shuts down.

I have tried to change the thermal paste for 3 times and also changed the default intel vent for a bigger katana. Nothing worked.

Could the processor just be broken?

Solution
I am having a similar problem in a Asus Rampage III Formula, Intel 7 960 and 24 ram. Brooo I hate this CPUTIN
I ran the HWMonitor in my wife PC (DELL)and in my laptop and I dont see any mention or see any CPUTIN in the report.
So I am thinking to update to generation 6, but have to make sure the new board dont come with the stupid CPUTIN, Sad to go away from Asus as is one of my preferable board, but I am exhaust of freezing and crap.
Last thing i believe is locate the sensor and place on top a mini dissipation aluminum litter peace of metal (that I will need to custom cut to size)
After that, my friend, i am done with Asus .

Thanks

CB

I just checked up the CPU temp in the BIOS and it said 37ºC, and right after that the screen just froze and i had to shut it down, after launching it again it got frozen in the windows loading screen.
The computer was off for 30 min before that happened, so it couldnt be that warm up.
Maybe the CPU and the CPUTIN sensor are broken? That would explain the Core temps at 37-40ºC, the Bios CPU Temp at 37ºC (broken sensor), and the freezing screens/shut downs (broken cpu)
