First things first, specs:
Samsung 850 EVO 250gb
Windows 10 Home 64 bit
ASRock Z77 Extreme4
Here we go. I had to do a system restore about a week ago, and when it finished, I noticed my SSD, which should have about 75-80 GB free space left, no has 55-60 gb free space left. So I thought to myself, "Well, Windows did say that an Avast file had an error, maybe the system restore didn't go right." So, I did it again, but now, there's only 31.4 GB free space! Panicking, I started searching for answers on what system restore can do to disk space, Windows 10, how SSDs work, NTFS operations, but even after half a day (not kidding) of searching, no dice. I downloaded WinDirStat, looking up the space being taken up on my SSD. In Windows Explorer, when I select every file (yes, I can view hidden files), it says like 140 GB used, but when I right-click properties on the C: drive as a whole, it says 180GB used. WinDirStat with 'show unknown space on', revealed to me that there is, in fact, some massive chunk of useless files that were create on my SSD during both restores. I was happy and confused at the same time, but I was searching online for more clues. Again, nothing. However, when I downloaded this NTFS Recovery Toolkit (literally the name, look it up and you'll see it), I did manage to find all these files from the restore. Problem, they are in a weird location, C:\$Extend\$RmMetadata\$Txf\. I have no clue how to access this zone, and in Auslogics Disk Defrag, when I analysed the C: drive, they all said unmovable. I need professional help here, how do I fix this?
