As the title says, i have an AMD FX-8320 and currently have a Asus M5A78L-M/USB3and i wont say its bad but it is definately not made for the 8 core AMD processors.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a motherboard with a 6+2 or 8+2 power phase that isnt too old for around £80?

Slightly however I think the quality of the chokes, caps and other components will make up for it. It has a 7+1 design, 7 power phases for the cpu, and 1 for cpu nb. Which is similar to the design of my ASUS M5A99X and I have pushed the hell out of that board for years. Yes on the asus 970 the usb connector is next to the 24pin connector. On the gigabyte its on the bottom of the board below the pci slots. I going to go out on a limb and say the asus is the better board, better compnets used, better onboard sound, better built in fan control software, and just an overall better and easy to use BIOS in my opinion. However I bet the gigabyte board would sever you good as well, up to you.

For that price range you're very limited. You really only have the Asus M5A97 LE R2.0, Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P, and MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) as other options. They're all pretty well equivalent to one another.

If you cheap out on your motherboard, you're usually always going to have a bad time. If you can invest a bit more, go for the Asus 970 PRO GAMING/AURA ATX AM3+ or MSI 970 GAMING.

Not really. I agree on the asus pro gaming aura however.

The M5A97 LE has a 4+2 power phase setup not the best for overclocking.

The MSI 760GMA is either 4+1 or 3+1 either way those are not recommended for OC at all.

The gigabyte 970a-ud3p is 8+2 and definitely the best suited for overcloking out of the three.

Thank you for the replies i had looked at the 970a-ud3p and Asus 970 PRO GAMING/AURA. Isnt the Asus board worse with the power phase? i know it is newer and will have more connections on that the gigabyte but will the gigabyte be better or is the Asus better in every way. As it is £90 on amazon i would add the extra for it but not if all it adds are the lights and better looks. And just to confirm do both these have sockets for a USB 3 cable that come with most cases now a days as my current board doesnt meaning i cant use the 2 USB 3 ports on the front of my case?
