Anyone knows if the Asus M5A88-M (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A88M/) could support a Phenom X2 550 BE (rev c2, code HDZ550WFK2DGI) although not being listed as a supported cpu?

As I see he processor is not listed in the asus supported list page, but the brother micro Phenom X2 550 (rev c3, not black edition, code HDX550WFK2DGM) is listed.

Besides, there is a sister motherboard, the M5A88-M EVO that support both the HDZ550WFK2DGI and the HDX550WFK2DGM.

So do you think it could work? What could happend if a tried to use it and in fact is not supported? Could the micro or the motherboard be damaged?

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Phenom IIX2 550( HDX550WFK2DGM),3.1GHz,512KB,rev.C3,80W,SocketAM3 is supported so BE (Black Edition) is same processor just has unlocked multiplier and can be overclocked. With some luck you can also unlock another core or both.

Thanks for your response!
Yes, I suppose it's the same processor, but the HDZ550WFK2DGI is rev C2 and i read it use high voltage because of that.
That's why I want to be sure I'll not harm the motherboard or the micro if I try to see if work :)
