Hey.
So I just finished building my PC. I installed Windows 10 on my SSD which is set to C: drive. I opened up the disk manager to change it to a different letter so I can change my hard drive to C: but my PC won't let me.
Is there anything I can do about it? I don't want my SSD to be my C: drive as I only have a 250GB SSD. I would like my 1TB HDD to be my C:drive.

Solution

1. you create empty folder (must be empty, this works only on empty folder)
2. Go to disk management
3. rightclick on volume, you want to mount, choose change drive letter and path

4.choose add
yadav_mount_windows_drive_4.jpg

5. and specify empty folder that you created previously.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes and that's also why I got my OS on the SSD. Just don't want to install all my applications on the SSD.

You can change it.
But it involves editing registry, and will mess up some things.
For example windows update might not work anymore.
So - I strongly advise against that.

If you want your HDD to be accessible through C: ,
you can make empty folder on C: called DATA (for example ... or any other name)
and mount your HDD partition to that folder.

Everything you store in C:\DATA will be actually stored on your HDD not SSD.

Thanks.
That's what I did but every time I install something I will have to manually change the install folder from C: something to the HDD. I would just like to know if there is a way to change the HDD to C:
