Should I SLI my GTX 980 TI or just get a GTX 1080. I Have a 144 hz monitor and I want to run battlefield 1 at that refresh rate. So, Are Heads Better Than One?

I would recommend just getting a 1080.

I don't recommend SLI for multiple reasons.

1. Power draw and heat output

2. Support... Not all games support SLI, some will only use a single card even if you have two installed.

3. Microstutter. Most games make each card work on a separate frame and then output that through the primary card. This means that the primary card will be left waiting for the frames to make it across the SLI bridge, creating a small stutter which will likely be noticeable at 144Hz.

Well we don`t have two heads do we.

But when it comes to Sli and two graphics cards the in a sense two are better than one.
But the actual performance increase you get by fitting another graphics card is not 100% of improvement in performance.

It is in fact about 50 to 60% of an increase when you Sli two graphics cards together.

This leads to a problem as when a new graphics card is released, the single card is often more powerful than the existing model of graphics card you have by a good few percent.

How much it differs from a single GTX 980 card, to a single GTX 1080 card in respect to frame rates ect.
Is what you should compare, and then what two 980 Ti cards in a Sli configuration would produce.

And the price of buying a New single GTX 1080 card, or another 980 Ti based card to run in a Sli configuration of your system.

It comes down to that but as you know, how much cheaper it would also be to buy another 980 Ti card vs a new GTX 1080 card to make it worth while.

The other option would be to sell the 980 Ti card and put it towards the purchase of a GTX 1080 card to ease the hit on the pockets Chaingun.
