anyone know how well this game runs at 4k with the best graphic mods? thank you for taking the time to answer me. i plan to beat The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion then buy skyrim i just want to know this before hand since i am gaming at 4k.

PC specs in sig for those that need to know my other specs cause some games are more heavy on cpu rather then gpu ("cough" Ubisoft).

Solution

Maybe with a good overclock above 2000mhz
We are still not recommending 4k because ...

a) No 120 Hz screens exist ... until monitors arrive with DP 1.4, and DP1.4 cable along with, 4k to my eyes remains a "near future" option. Right now the best gaming experience comes from 165 Hz, IPS 1440p screens. I expect 1st or 2nd quarter 2017.

b) Acceptable performance is now available at 4k (w/ 2 x 1080 in SLI) ... I expect 2 x 1080 Tis will make it a wow thing even at 120Hz and above.

So can't really speak from personal experience.

Skyrim with all the mods can create weird scenarios... I would expect 2 x 1080 to deliver an acceptable experience ... but if it was me, I'd wait for the Tis for something more than acceptable

I have not had a good experience with multiple GPUs and skyrim. Firstly the engine is garbage, vsync is sketchy, and without vsync if you go above the refresh rate of your monitor the physics start freaking out.

Just don't want you to drop all that money on a game that isn't going to react well to it. On the bright side, skyrim performs quite well on midrange hardware, so a single 1080 will run the game pretty well.

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/329665-does-skyrim-support-sli/

states sli is supported and issues are only caused if u dont have ENB file configured correctly. assuming he means wrong order. or if u go over the 4gb limit for 32bit program like skyrim. hopefully there is a mod that can change the 4gb limit of vram.

My r9 295x2 manages an average of 40 fps with almost every texture at 4k, ENB preset, some 8k textures, and weather mods.
I literally reached the 255 plugin limit from all those mods LMAO.

1 GTX 1080 should be more or less equivalent to the 295x2 so 2 in sli would definitely equal 60 fps+ at 4k with 4k textures and ENB presets.
