ok so ive paired a gtx 1080 with an amd fx 6300 i know what your thinking but i'm getting an i7 6700k soon for it but i've recently experienced some problems the card seems to be making loud spitting static noises and i believe this is something to do with the voltage as it only does this when the power% on msi afterburner is at about 76% can someone tell me if i can fix this noise or if my card is going to break

May i add that the gpu uses 1 8 pin connector and is not a reference/founders model

NVIDIA drivers having problems with the Pascal series. They're actively working on a fix. I'm in the same boat as you. But yeah, that 6300 is going to bottleneck the 1080, your problems, I believe, are stemming from the driver issues.

Sounds like inductor noise or coil whine, does it only do it when the card is under load? Most of the time this is normal, it does not mean anything is wrong with the card, some just make noise. What power supply are you using? Sometimes that can cause a noise if its not delivering power correctly.

Corsair CX850M? Do you have a founders edition 1080? I googled it and have found several people complaining about coil while issues with the 1080. It could be caused by that psu the corsair CX line aren't known to be the greatest, however I cant guarantee that as some gpu's just make noise. If its very annoying you may be able to RMA the card however no guarantee the replacement wont do the same.
