Hi, I am almost done with my Skylake build, 2 weeks ago I ran my system, the performance I am getting is actually good, but I have a couple of concerns about my GPU, since I started gaming I had some problems with games crashing to desktop, sometimes leading to red blank screen with total CPU freeze, I am not happy about that, I have had another thread here about my gaming experience with this machine, the in-game performance is not bad, I mean I can run most of demanding games on high-ultra settings with playable FPS, but this is not the problem, the problem is that some games keep crashing, specially AC. I have had a problem with ACU keep crashing in certain points, however re-downloaded the game 2 times, tried 2 different drivers, tried windows 10 & windows 7, same issue, so unless my GPU is faulty then the only part here that might be causing the problem is the PSU, I will leave my components there for any reference.

Mobo: MAXIMUS VIII RANGER
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz)
RAM: Vengeance LPX 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz
GPU: SAPPHIRE NITRO Radeon R9 380 4G

For CPU cooling I am using the reference CPU cooler that comes inside the box, however my CPU temperatures are fine while gaming.

GPU temperature is fine as well.

I have had this problem only with assassin's creed, some other games are running maxed out with 60 FPS. so I don't know what's going on.

I am not overclocking my GPU or anything, everything is set to normal, please I need help, because I still have a chance to replace my PSU in a couple of days.

If only one game is presenting issues, then its the game not your system. You could try another driver version and see if that helps.

As to rule out your PSU, try stress testing your system, first only GPU with Furmark for instance, if it passes the test try 3DMark or similar to push both your CPU and GPU to their limits, thus forcing the PSU to work at its highest demand possible, if the test fails then yes, you need a better PSU. However all XFX PSUs are made by Seasonic so they are quality units.

Alright, since I have never tried Furmark, so i am going to try it now and keep you posted with any updates, thanks :)

If too much power would be drawn from the PSU or some other PSU related error would occur, the game probably wouldn't just freeze.
I think this is Software related. Could be a driver issue. Sometimes a certain driver configuration just gets rejected by some application for no apparent reason.

Is it freezing randomly or always at the same points in the game?

Sometimes it freezes at certain points into the game, just as a freeze then crash to desktop like "ACU.exe has stopped working" now I tried Assassin's creed syndicate, Once I jumped into the game and tried to move my mouse the game crashed leading to red blank screen with total CPU freeze, I had to restart my PC, I am worried to be honest, but on the other hand other games are totally fine, maxed out no crashes no FPS drop nothing, seems like it's a problem with assassin's creed !! I play some other games on this machine and they were working fine and smooth, tested GTA V on maximum settings, tested shadow of mordor maximum settings too, hits 70 - 80 FPS ! so if it's related to AC then that's it I will give up because Ubisoft is kidding !!

I ran the CPU stress test, max temp is 62C

I'm a big fan of AC series, however since AC 3 they've been developing the game for console and then porting it to PC in a very sloppy way. Black Flag was decently optimized but the rest of their series are simply a disaster on PC, if you start to look around you'll see how random people has problems with Unity and such.

Yes, that's why I started blaming Ubisoft since AC unity has been released, many problems with graphics, FPS drops, crashing, and guess what also making problems with your drivers, I have noticed that each time the game crashes, it just doesn't crash, it stops my Crimson drivers making it crash as well, and I be like "what is going on with this game??" I am giving up on AC until I figure out what's going on. I have ran all tests, all benchmarks, and now I am going for a 3D mark test (DirectX 12) with that TimeSpy version. Hopeful everything be fine
