Hello!

Recently, my computer said that my CPU had overheated after running a game and so it ran the bios to show this - it was at around 75 degrees Celsius, which I know is very high. As a result, I turned off my computer and took off my heat sink fan and it was obviously full of dust which I have removed and then placed back into place.

I then restarted my computer and it came up with the startup repair which continued with, after this the computer restarted and the Windows 7 loading screen loaded up - but straight after it blue screened and turned off?

What exactly is wrong with my computer and what can I do to get it working again? I have ordered some thermal paste to apply to my CPU which will be coming in a few days.

Thanks in advance! :)

Specs:

Intel i5-3570k 3rd generation 4x 3.4ghz.
Sapphire HD7850 GDDR5 2GB.
16 GB RAM.
Asus P8H77-V LE Z77 Socket 1155 8 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard.
PowerCool X-Viper 650W Fully Wired 80+ Bronze Power Supply.
WD 1TB Green Desktop Drive

I think I have installed the CPU fan back on properly. I have only used the thermal paste pre-packaged onto the Intel CPU though and so now I have ordered extra CPU paste to apply on.

Thanks. How do restores work with files that are on the same storage device?

In addition, this issue only happened after I updated my GPU drivers.

I have tried to start my computer today and to went to do a windows repair and it will run it - so I went into the bios and checked the temp and it started at 22 degrees Celsius and then continued to rise every few seconds by 1 degree until it reached 80 degrees Celsius again, so there is something wrong that is causing my CPU to overheat. Like I said in my OP, I have ordered some thermal paste, since I have ever only used the one which comes with the heatsink from Intel. I will check that my heatsink is properly installed tomorrow too. Does anyone know if the blue screen is being caused by the computer just wanting to shut down because of high CPU temps or if it is a problem with windows? Thanks! :)
