Problems merging two drives together

I have been trying to merge two drives together to create one big drive but I keep encountering a error that appears "not enough space to complete action", both my drives are empty and both have 120Gb of free storage on them so there has to be enough space on them.

My os drive is separate from these as it is on an M.2 drive and I'm trying to merge two SSD's to create one big partition of 240Gb.
The method I have been trying so for is to create one partition on one of the drives and then extend it using the other drives unallocated space (which is all of it), but to no avail.

How can I get around this error? as I don't see how I'm running out of space.

Thanks

Don't worry I just repeated the steps I took so I can screenshot them and show you but it somehow worked.
Just so your not confused I will still show you how I did it.

First I made both drives I wanted to merge unallocated.

Secondly I made one of the drives a basic partition.

Thirdly I right clicked on my new partition and clicked "expand" and went through the process, and added the unallocated space.

This has seemed to worked now as both drives have merged creating a spanned drive.

When I went through this process before it didn't seem to work, I...

How, exactly, are you trying to do this?
There are only a couple of actual ways, and from your description, you are going down the wrong road.

Again...how, exactly?
Also, please post a screencap of your Disk Management window.

When I went through this process before it didn't seem to work, I also when through the process of creating a new spanned volume to merge them but it still decided to not do it. So I'm not sure what happened but it has seemed to worked this time.

Thanks for all the help though.

the problem that they were on a separate disk. might have been better asking 'how to merge 2 disk'

1. Open disk management

2. Make sure each drive has nothing on it (You can delete existing volumes on each one)

3. Right-click on the first drive you want to combine and select "Create New Spanned Volume."

4.Click next until it asks you to select a disk. Here you will want to choose which disk you want to combine it with (IE, the second one) by highlighting it and pressing the add button.

5.Assign the new spanned volume a drive letter and format it as NTFS and give it some sort of name to identity it.

This should be all you have to do. If you have further questions just reply to this.

he already solved that by himself
