Hello, I have an Fx6300 and an M5A97 motherboard. I have read all over tom'sHardware that overclocking on an M5A97 is very unsafe for your system. But I have heard that it is ok to do on the M5A97 R2.0.
My motherboard is the standard M5A97, not the R2.0 or LE version. Is this motherboard safe to do a light overclock on? Lets say 4.0 Ghz

Solution
Claims 140W output, so it should be able to handle an FX6300 at 95W, gives you quite a bit of wiggle room. You might be seeing what people have said about trying to overclock the FX8xxx series at 125W.

4.0 would be more of a downclock. Should already be boosting to 4.1Ghz if temperature allows. Usually casual target is 4.5Ghz.
