Hello guys, I've been a frequent reader of Toms Hardware but this is the first time that I have to post a problem and would need your help..

I built my computer with the following specs around a year back,
Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge CPU @ 3.30 GHz
16 GB DDR3
Gigabyte R9-270
Corsair VS 550
120 GB Samsung SSD PM810
1 Terabyte Seagate HDD

The restarts started happening after around 4-5 months of heavy use in video/photo editing and hardcore gaming.. I won't lie, but I did try overclocking without any knowledge of it..Whenever I felt the computer was rendering slowly, I used to overclock through my graphic settings.. I stopped OCing after the restarts started but with time, the frequency increased to the point that the computer started restarting when I was simply using Chrome or writing on MS Word.. So I thought the best way to deal with it would be by trial and error..

I started with Memtest86 which ran perfectly without any errors and core temperatures were also well within the safe zone.. I wanted to see if it was a software or a hardware issue so I kept the computer in the BIOs and the computer restarted even there, so it became slightly obvious that the problem was with the hardware.. So instead of plugging in through my graphics card, I plugged in through the motherboard, and the problem still existed.. So in the end, I thought it had to be the PSU.. I live in Pakistan so we don't have formal repairing centres here but I brought to a local repairing lab but even they couldn't identify the problem.. The best advice I got from the internet was to check with a higher PSU, so I borrowed a 750W X-Factor PSU (chinese) from a friend and tried using the computer with that, and it worked.. It didn't restart even though I tried to stress it with heavy renders and games (GPU slightly heats up).. What do you guys think is the problem? Should I get a better PSU? How much power do I need considering that I usually plug in at least two external hard drives as well when I am working? The only available PSUs here are Corsair, Thermaltake (ususally difficult to find) and CoolerMaster!!

Any help would seriously mean a lot.. Do ask if you have any questions.. Thanks in advance..

How can we be sure that this is a psu problem? Does any of the information that I posted suggests that it might be a gpu problem? I don't want to spend so much, and not be sure that what if it was a problem with the gpu!! I still have the bigger unit with me for one more day, what other tests would you suggest that would make the solution clearer? I am sorry for being a pain in the ass but ...
