Howdy! I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I need to build a PC for video editing and some gaming. My budget is around 800 dollars, I would like to keep it under if possible. Would it be possible to build a PC that would be able to handle 1080p video editing in programs such as Premiere, along with color grading in Davinci Resolve in this price range? I also game, but would be willing to sacrifice graphics if necessary for the budget. I have been struggling between deciding on the CPU, if somebody could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jake

Hey Jake,

Gotcha covered. I use a website called "pcpartpicker" where PC builders can find all the parts they need at the cheapest prices from popular retailers. I looked at your requirements and this system i've configured should get the job done and save you a bit of money too!

I threw in an optical drive because I thought that might be important in your field of work, but you can remove it as well. Also, there is no operating system included with this bundle, but one of your friends or colleagues should have access to Windows 7 or something like that.

Best of luck!

Thanks! So you think that the i5 would be sufficient? I was wondering if I was going to have to use an i7.
Thanks again!

Oh yeah, this is the top of the line i5 and is built for extreme editing and gaming, hence the "K" at the end of the name. i7's are made for several (dozens) of projects at once and imo is complete overkill. This build is in the sweet spot. Affordable and powerful

I think Trafalgar's build is lightly better in that it will multi-task well and video-editing relies on that during the rendering process. Also comes with an SSD. Putting some work files on the SSD has the potential to speed up the process significantly.
