Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I am having a bizarre issue on a new rig I just threw together. All new parts, specs as follows:

i7-5820k
H100i-GTX watercooler
GSkill DDR4 8gbx4
GTX1080
Asus Rampage V MB
Corsair RM850x PSU
Samsung 850 Evo 1tb SSD
pioneer blu ray/DVD drive
WIndows 10

I just finished putting the system together and was planning to install the OS today. Unfortunately, I ran into a problem: System boots up into BIOS no problem. All ram shows, as does the CPU, and CPU temps seem stable (at least in bios mode), and the system shows both the SSD and the optical drive on their respective SATA ports. Everything appears to be working, and I get no warnings or error codes from the LED readout on the MB itself.

However, when I try to install windows, an issue happens: System boots to optical drive, and the windows logo appears on screen. After maybe 30 seconds to 1 minute, I get BSOD and an error code 0xc00000e9, saying there is some kind of IO issue.

The MB doesn't have a SATA 0 port, and the SSD and optical drive show up clearly in the boot drive menu.

I need help troubleshooting this issue. So far I have unsuccessfully tried:

(1) making sure the SSD is set to AHCI;

(2) trying a different install disk (I used a copy of Windows 7 I had laying around - same error);

(3) removing a hot swap card in my case on the off chance it was faulty;

(4) switching to different SATA ports;

(5) switching to different SATA cables;

So far, none of these attempts have been helpful.

What do you people think might be the issue?

If the SSD was faulty, would it show up correctly in my BIOS as it does?

Same question for if the optical drive is faulty.

pls help

Problem was solved! I updated my BIOS for the MB, and once done, the optical drive appeared as UEFI, and I was able to install windows successfully! Huge relief. I hope this helps someone in the future.
