I have a pre-built pc that my dad bought a couple years ago and I was looking to upgrade the graphics card. Because right now it's garbage. I want something for around $300. My motherboard has a pcie x16 slot however I don't know what power supply I have. Is there an easy way to find out without opening the case? These are the specs I gathered from CPU-Z.

Alternately, you could tell us the make and model of the pre-built system. If you cannot find the make and model, try running the Direct X Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag). It may say there. It may also be listed on the Control Panel --> System page.

You cant find out what PSU you have without opening the case.
Open the case and take a pic of your power supply, specially the sticker that's on it, where it writes 12v/xxAMPS , 5v/xx amps there should be a table showing its stats make/model. Probably you will need to change PSU if its premade, since they usually come with garbage PSU's.
What case do you have ? Take a pic of it if you cant say if its Small form factor or full tower or mid case.

Can't say for sure. it most likely only has a 300-400 W PSU in it. but check to make sure. if the PSU cant handle a larger GPU then looking into a new PSU is a good idea. since your i7 and 8GB RAM is good you dont have to worry about anything else

Alright, thanks. I'll see if I can call the company I bought it from and ask then what power supply it has. The case doesn't seem to have any screws to take the side panel off. They may have used a non-standard screw type or some other way to keep the side panel on.

Also another quick question. Do you have anymore recommendations for a graphics card around the same price point?

1060. its not $300 but it doesnt require as much power so i lower tier PSU can power it.
