How would a GTX 1060 work with a GTX 760 PhysX Card?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of grabbing a 1060 since its a cheap enough model for me to be happy with it, however I'm wondering how well my old 760 would work as a PhysX card for it, and also what size of PSU I would need to run it. Currently my PSU is 600W and runs the gtx 760 nicely, but would it be able to run both these cards together? And more importantly how well would it run them?

Thanks in advance!

Solution
yes you can. 600w probably good enough for you purpose. given that nit is a good one. funny thing is 760 probably end up using more power than 1060 despite that 760 only use for physX.

more like GPU physic are already dead. Bullet for example has been offering gpu accelerated feature for years that is vendor neutral using opencl but so far no game using Bullet (like GTA 5) use the gpu accelerated part. and with nvidia PhysX 3 now you can have effect that in the past only possible with gpu physx to certain extend. i think this is the reason why CDPR decided not to use gpu PhysX in The Wither 3.

It's a EVGA 600W Bronze PSU I believe, not sure what to expand on that, but I bought it about 2/3 years ago I think.

May be dying, but I don't see that point in the card just sitting in a box for a rainy day :)

Howdy. did you get a chance to try that 760 as a Physx card? If so, do you have any results?
Im playing Metro2033 and last light. I was wondering if using my 760 with my 1060 would make any difference.

Please post your finding.
Thanks! :)

Suggestion: Instead of using the GTX 760 as a PhysX card, I suggest selling it on Ebay. You'd probably earn $70 - $100. You could use the money for one of the following: a 16 GB RAM kit, 250 GB SSD, a modular gold efficiency power supply, a quality computer case, etc.

It's been a long time since I have looked at a benchmark for using a PhysX card but the last time I did it was apparent the PhysX card needed to be not that much weaker than the main GPU otherwise it would hold back the main card and actually decrease performance. A 760 would have been used with something like a 770 or 780. I would have thought a single 1060 on it's own would perform better than being paired with such an old card. This us assuming things have not changed. No harm in trying if your PSU is up to it.
