Hey Tom's hardware!

I recently put together a new gaming rig a few months back but have run into some strange power issues. One afternoon, I go to turn on the PC and nothing happens - almost as if the switch was never connected. Starting with the easiest thing, I swapped out the power cable with another and everything seemed fine.

Fast forward another week, same issue happens. I tried to swap out yet another cable but still didn't work. Eventually retrying an old cable that I thought was failing worked. Its also worth noting that these power cables I was trying still work on other devices I have (monitor, etc).

This morning I go to turn it on and its not having any of it so I pry the machine open and remove any non-essential devices from the PSU. During this time it was able to boot once but after it was still unable. Also checked the PW switch to make sure it wasn't a switch problem but it seemed to be connected fine.

Now I'm kind of stuck. When the PC did boot before when 'resolving' the issues it ran smoothly and didn't shut down.

Some additional debugging context:

* On the same outlet, I have a small power bar connecting a monitor and an external hub device for my Macbook. The PC was plugged directly into the outlet - skipping the power bar - until I started noticing this issue. The Macbook hub device does draw a bit of power so that could have been a concern. I've recently kept it unplug fearing that the draw from the wall might be too much but it hasn't helped.

* It's also worth nothing that no fans or anything turns on. Absolute silence. As if it was off.

Lastly, I actually built two of the same machines (another for my wife) which is working fine. If need be I can yank out the PSU from that machine for additional debugging. I haven't done this yet.

Thanks in advance and let me know if there is any additional info I can give.

Found out the issue. Turns out the PSU is kaput. Ended up taking everything out and breadboarding just the board and PSU and wasn't booting. Swapping out for a known-working PSU did work though.
