I am trying to clone a 1 TB HD to a 2 TB HD in Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I installed the new drive but it does not show up in Windows explorer. The old HD had the systems (partition?), a C partition of 930 GB and a D partition of 11 GB for System Restore. If I try to clone with Disk Management. it makes a C and D partition each 930 GB big. I tried to use Seagate Disc Wizard but it tries to make a C partition 930 MB, D partition 11 GB and unallocated 930 GB. I can't resize the C partition apparently be cause the D partition is in the middle. I tried Macrium but have the same issues- it will not use the whole 2 TB drive. Should I make the 2 TB a simple volume or is that even an issue. I also tried to format the 2 TB drive to see if that would make a difference but could not find a way to format it as it only shows up on cloning software. I even tried to connect it externally but no luck. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using AOMEI Backupper? Yeah terrible name but I never had issues cloning drives. As for you saying the 2tb drive won't appear in explorer have you gone into disk management and formatted the 2tb to NTSF?

Yes, I finally formatted it as a simple volume and was able to clone it, but it won't boot from the cloned drive. from Disk Management the 1 TB drive shows a 100 GB partition with no letter as the system with a status of System, Active, Primary partition. The 2 TB clone has a 100 GB partition with a status of Active, Primary Partition but not System. It also assigned it a drive letter. Not sure if when I cloned the drive I should have selected the system partition and the C partition or just the C partition. Not sure what I need to do to make it boot from the clone.
