Hello guys, Im no professional when it comes to knowing things about computers, I know the basics of what is needed to make them run, but not how those things work. Anyways, so I recently switched over to intel from an AMD FX 6300 to an I5 6600k right and it generally works well, 60 FPS in most games but there is an issue: The game freezes up and there are lag spikes whenever there is something new to load in. (I think that's why at least.) So anyway the reason I say that is because as I move around in most of my games, I can see things appear in front of me that I would (On my old processor) have already seen as they would have already been loaded in. For example, while I am running in one game I see trees loading in above me, in another I see cars appear right in front of me. I have already check and in games the temps of all my CPU cores and my CPU are normal, My Graphics cards temp is normal and the GPU usage hangs around 90-99% while CPU at 40-55% When these said lag spikes occur I see both of these things drop the graphics to 0-17% and processor to about 13%. My RAM usage is at about 3100-3300 which is also normal and my internet is fine, I have absolutely NO IDEA what the problem could possibly be so I am relying on you guys (The smart ones) to help me out here. my specs are as follows: Motherboard: GA B150M Processor cooler: Cooler Master Hyper T4 Processor: I5 6600k (Default Clock) Grahpics Card: Gtx 950 FTW PSU: EVGA 500w. My monitor is a 60 Ghz refresh rate so guys I have no idea what the problem is, any help at all would be GREAT. Is there a possibility that this is something to do with my drivers? I dont exactly know what version I have and I dont know where to find the installation for the latest ones.

Solution
Setup is what you want. It is usually followed by .exe which means execute. Many say Setup.exe but it could have a slightly different version. But look for the .exe file and that should be the right one.

Try unparking cores on CPU, you can easily find that on youtube;
Also, what is your HDD?

When you swapped from AMD to Intel did you reinstall the OS?

Graphics drivers can be found here: www.nvidia.com
Motherboard drivers can be found here: www.gigabyte.com

Also you can try running the games in windowed mode and have your task manager up on the processes tab and see what is using any of the CPU and memory during the spikes.

Okay so I have not tried unparking cores yet, is it safe? Keep in mind im not a pro if something goes wrong but I looked at the info of my computer and it says that this is my Hard Drive 1TB SATA III 7200RPM, here is a link to the exact one: http://www.serversupply.com/products/part_search/pid_lookup.asp?pid=207338&gclid=Cj0KEQjwt-G8BRDktsvwpPTn1PkBEiQA-MRsBSkrsXjxr-Scit3iqLG1GejJbITHQ0N7VswP9paer7waApkK8P8HAQ I didnt just buy mine, I have had it since 2013

Yeah check it with Hard Disk Sentinel program, just download it and that's it, read Health,Performance and Temeprature(in celsius please) and write it here;
Unparking is safe, here is the video which I used on my 2 previous CPU's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fKxZ1mq9KA

Unparking the cores is unnecessary with the newer Intel CPU's. I unselected the best answer for you.

Any time you install a new motherboard you should and is strongly recommended that you reinstall the OS. The drivers for the board need to be downloaded from the site in order fort hings to work properly. I can not express how important this is.

So you did 2 things wrong, 1 is you did not reinstall the OS. This is necessary to ensure the motherboard drivers and software operate properly and do not have conflicts with previous ones. AND the 2nd was you did not install the drivers from the Gigabyte web page for your motherboard.

rectify these and you should have no more issues. First try installing the proper drivers from gigabyte and see if it helps. If not reinstall the OS.

EDIT: To clarify Any time you change the motherboard to a different model you need to reinstall the OS. You can do it without reinstalling but this involves removal of drivers and registry editing. The second can be very difficult to do if you are unfamiliar with the registry. This is why it is best to reinstall the Operating System when a different model board is installed.

Okay so you have been a really big help in this, and I feel stupid for asking, but I went and I downloaded the chipset driver, I click open and now I have an application that says SetupME and XML document that says MUP and and application extension that says intelMEFWVer.dll right so which do I click, (Sorry for asking, I know people get annoyed when others are stupid)
